Construction Surveying Project Manager (Gainesville and St. Augustine, FL)

Responsibilities

The Construction Surveying Project Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the efforts of multiple Field Survey Crew teams through the Survey Crew Chiefs. The Construction Surveying Project Manager is responsible for the successful and accurate completion of various types of survey projects as a result of guiding, managing, and leading the construction department’s surveyors and CAD Technicians. The Construction Surveying Project Manager is a liaison between the surveying department and new or existing construction clients. The Project Manager assists the Director with scheduling surveying crews, providing quality assurance for deliverables, and coordination with staff, clients, sub-consultants, and government entities. In addition, the ability to teach and demonstrate intermediate to advanced surveying techniques is essential. The ability to adapt to changing project needs and schedules, make technical and managerial decisions, present changing situations in a constructive manner to the Crew Chiefs and teams, and plan for and complete projects on time, is essential. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Consult with existing and potential clients to develop project scope, deliverables, and action plans
  2. Prepare proposals and contracts
  3. Direct manage and lead Crew Chiefs, field staff, office staff, field crews, and surveying technicians, and coordinate with civil engineering staff to complete multiple, concurrent projects efficiently, on-time, and on-budget
  4. Conduct deed and plan research and review
  5. Prepare weekly survey crew schedules
  6. Provide CAD oversight and quality assurance
  7. Manage and monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  8. Will use Trimble Survey field equipment, Trimble Access, and Survey Pro
  9. Has working knowledge and experience to oversee construction layout, ALTA/NSPS, boundary, as-built, control, right-of-way, specific purpose, and topographic surveys
  10. Develops teaching and training initiatives with Crew Chiefs in survey and mapping methods, equipment operation, and field safety procedures.

Requirements

  1. Eligible for reciprocal surveying licensure
  2. Ability to review drawings and sign and seal surveys
  3. A history of increasing hands-on management, and leadership responsibilities within the land surveying profession resulting in 3 – 10 years of Surveying Project Management experience
  4. Hands-on experience with Trimble Survey field equipment, Trimble Access, and Survey Pro (highly preferred)
  5. AutoCAD experience required
  6. Hands-on experience processing survey data; processing traverse data, network adjustments, analyzing and processing GPS networks, calculating level loops, and analytics software
  7. FDOT knowledge including surveying and mapping requirements preferred, however, the ability to pivot current knowledge from other states to learn and apply FDOT requirements is required.
  8. Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  9. High School diploma or equivalent
  10. Proficiency with data collection equipment
  11. Willing to learn new technologies, techniques, methods, and systems
  12. The ability and desire to work in different weather environments including summer heat, rain, etc.
  13. The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Civil Engineering Project Manager (Gainesville, FL)

Responsibilities

The JBPro Civil Engineering Project Manager will use their expertise  to plan, direct, and coordinate engineering design projects, including pre-planning, budgeting, resource allocation, contract negotiation, and coordination of team members. The Project Manager may, on some projects, use their engineering design skills directly and contribute as a Project Engineer. Specifically, the Civil Engineering Project Manager will:

  1. engage clients as the primary contact on behalf of JBPro
  2. work with the client to coordinate schedules, resources, meetings, and other project related activities
  3. attend all organizational and coordination project meetings
  4. monitor, manage, and adjust the project schedule to meet client and JBPro goals
  5. manage the project team and resources assigned to the project, and ensure an efficient utilization of both
  6. be responsible for correlating workflow with deadlines
  7. create, review, and work with Administration to ensure accurate invoicing and billing for the project
  8. coordinate and communicate with local and state agencies to obtain appropriate permits
  9. be the central source of all written correspondence with clients regarding the project
  10. on as as-needed basis, will use their design and engineering expertise on one or more specific projects
  11. manage sub-consultants and associated companies working with JBPro on the project, including but not limited to Geotechnical, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Lighting, etc.
  12. attend Public Meetings, workshops, hearings as needed.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, preferably civil engineering
  2. Registered Professional Engineer highly preferred
  3. LEED Certification preferred
  4. CAPM Certification required
  5. PMP Certification preferred
  6. At least 2 years of civil engineering project management experience required

Director of Civil Engineering (St. Augustine)

Responsibilities

The Director of Civil Engineering oversees the day-to-day operation of the Civil Engineering department, including all staff, projects, budgets, and schedules. The Director will work with the company President to set direction for the Department. Working through and with project teams, the Director will oversee all schedules and ensure that procedures are in place so that work is completed on time and on budget. The Director is responsible for overall resource allocation, project prioritization, and staffing needs. Specifically, the Director of Civil Engineering will:

  1. lead the Civil Engineering Department team through example, including but not limited to design excellence, communication, and continuous learning
  2. provide expert knowledge of civil engineering principles and have final decision authority on all civil drawings and documents
  3. manage the civil engineering project management staff and their corresponding daily work efforts.
  4. coordinate with administrative staff on all administrative needs, purchases, and human resources.
  5. manage the overall civil engineering project schedule.
  6. manage and develop systems as needed to ensure that deadlines are met
  7. provide input on invoicing and billing for the civil engineering projects.
  8. prepare proposals for civil engineering projects directly and with other team members
  9. guide and assist the Engineering Project Managers with client coordination and communication as needed
  10. work collaboratively with other production departments and their Directors, such as Surveying, on project needs, timelines, budgets, etc.
  11. identify training and education needs of the Department and develop education and training programs internally and or seek external sources for training and education purposes when needed
  12. use AutoCAD and storm water modeling software as needed
  13. attend all company organizational and coordination project meetings

Requirements

  1. Proven leadership and management skills within a Civil Engineering environment
  2. Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, preferably civil engineering
  3. Registered Professional Engineer required
  4. Progressive Civil Engineering design and project management experience
  5. At least 5 years of overall experience
  6. LEED Certification preferred
